About the project

The FOR-EST project has been based on the generation of a tool that serves as a starting point to improve the knowledge and care of the forest masses of the Mediterranean basins of the Ebro, Júcar and Segura rivers and, in turn, to prevent possible threats such as hydrological drought or the risk of fire.

In particular, the prevention and anticipation on a seasonal scale, up to 6 months ahead, of forest fire risks and threats was investigated. In addition, the degree to which meteorological factors could cause stress on the forest area in the Júcar and Segura river basins was identified.
