Effective equality

Effective equality
The Fundación para la Investigación del Clima practices active policies aimed at achieving equal treatment and opportunities in the workplace, which include, among others, the following objectives and measures:
1.-Fostering a balance between the work, personal and family life of employees while promoting productivity and efficiency through the implementation, among other measures, of flexible working hours.
2.-Application of a salary policy with pay equity based on non-discrimination on the basis of gender.
3.-Promotion of hiring processes free of stereotypes or assumptions about skills, characteristics of people of a certain sex, race, age, disability, religion or ethnic group, marital status, social status, religion or beliefs, political ideas, sexual orientation and union membership or non-membership.
4.-In equal conditions, achievement of a balanced representation of women and men in the scope of the foundation, in professional groups and jobs and promotion and improvement of the possibilities of access of women to positions of responsibility.
Rejection of any manifestation of harassment at work, as well as any violent or offensive behavior, adopting, to this end, a protocol for the prevention and treatment of harassment in the workplace, through which the principles and guidelines for action that should govern to prevent and, where appropriate, correct this type of behavior are defined.
As proof of the achievement of the above points and of FIC’s active work to improve the conditions of its workers, with a faithful commitment to the effective equality discussed here, the following Equality Plan has been developed. With its drafting, FIC seeks to analyze the internal casuistry of the Foundation, to detect any area for improvement and to develop a basis on which to continue working in the future. Gender focus
FIC is an organization committed to the promotion of human rights. Our work has allowed us to see that the consequences of climate change do not affect women and men equally, nor the possibility of achieving their rights.
For this reason, FIC promotes effective equality in its actions through equal access to information, training and, in general, to all the benefits, products and services generated in the context of these actions. FIC also believes that women are essential agents of change in the fight against climate change.
In the field of international cooperation, we find the most favorable conditions for putting effective equality into practice. Thus, one of FIC’s strategic partner organizations is the Entre Mujeres Foundation (FEM) of Nicaragua. FEM is a feminist association that brings together rural women and promotes agroecological practices in addition to working on issues such as the defense of the human rights of women survivors of gender-based violence. With FEM we work on the transfer of knowledge and technology for better adaptation to climate change in the short and long term.
