About the project

VITCLIMA has been a project in which the impact that Climate Change may have on Spanish vineyards has been analyzed, with the aim of enabling viticultural actors to carry out better planning and to minimize the negative impact caused by it, enhancing the positive aspects.

A methodology has been used that consists of generating scenarios of indexes of viticultural interest at local scale through the application of FICLIMA, a downscaling methodology developed by the FIC.

Objectives

Phases of the work process:

  1. Evaluation of the most appropriate indexes of viticultural interest for the study based on the meteorological information available.
  2. Generation of local-scale future climate projections of temperature and precipitation.
  3. Generation of future simulations of the indexes of viticultural interest defined in previous steps.

With the information obtained during the execution of the project, the most appropriate indexes of viticultural interest for the study area were selected.
